Our approach

Chapter IVXX is designed around data minimization. We try to collect, use, and retain only the information reasonably necessary to operate, secure, maintain, and improve the service for its members.

We do not sell member information. We do not use member information to create advertising profiles. We do not use third-party behavioral tracking to follow members across unrelated websites.

Information you provide

Depending on how you use Chapter IVXX, you may provide information such as your username or display name, email address, profile information, posts, replies, private messages, uploaded files, preferences, and communications with administrators or moderators.

Passwords should be handled through the forum’s authentication system and stored using secure one-way password hashing. Chapter IVXX should never display or store a member’s plaintext password in application-accessible form.

Technical information

Like other Internet services, Chapter IVXX and its infrastructure providers may process limited technical information needed to deliver and protect the service. This can include IP addresses, request timestamps, browser or device information, authentication events, security events, and error information.

This information is used for purposes such as delivering requests, maintaining sessions, preventing abuse, diagnosing failures, protecting accounts, and securing the service. It is not used by Chapter IVXX to create advertising profiles or track members across unrelated websites.

Cookies and local storage

Chapter IVXX may use cookies or similar browser storage where necessary for authentication, security, session management, preferences, and normal forum functionality.

We do not intentionally use third-party advertising cookies or behavioral tracking cookies.

Infrastructure providers

• Cloudflare: public website hosting through Workers Static Assets, as configured in this repository.

Chapter IVXX relies on service providers for infrastructure functions such as domain services, DNS, network protection, hosting, transactional email, and backups. These providers may process limited information as necessary to provide their services.

How information is used

Chapter IVXX may use information to:

• Provide and operate the website and forum.
• Authenticate members and maintain sessions.
• Deliver account and transactional email.
• Protect accounts and infrastructure.
• Prevent spam, fraud, abuse, or attacks.
• Diagnose bugs and technical problems.
• Back up and restore the service.
• Enforce community rules.
• Respond to member requests.
• Meet legal obligations.

What we do not do

Chapter IVXX does not sell member information.

Chapter IVXX does not use member information for targeted advertising.

Chapter IVXX does not intentionally use cross-site behavioral tracking to profile members.

Information sharing

Information may be processed by infrastructure providers as necessary to operate the service. Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to valid legal process, protect the security of the service, investigate abuse, or protect the rights and safety of Chapter IVXX or its members.

We do not characterize normal infrastructure processing as “selling” member information.

Retention

Information is retained for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to maintain the service, protect account and infrastructure security, preserve legitimate community records, maintain backups, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations.

Operational and security logging should be configured to use the shortest retention period that remains reasonably useful for security and troubleshooting.

Posts and account deletion

Deleting an account does not necessarily require deletion of every public discussion contribution if removing those contributions would damage the continuity of community discussions. Where appropriate, content may instead be disassociated or anonymized, subject to applicable law and the forum’s technical capabilities.

Private information that is no longer needed should be deleted when reasonably possible.

Your choices and requests

Members may contact the site administrators to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information associated with their account, subject to applicable law, security requirements, and legitimate operational needs.

Security

We use reasonable technical and administrative measures intended to protect the service and member information. No Internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Children’s privacy

Chapter IVXX is intended only for adults age 21 or older and is not directed to children.

Changes to this policy

Material changes to this Privacy Policy will be identified by a new version and updated effective date. Material changes affecting member privacy should also be communicated to the community.
